Sam Newman Story
Просмотров 29110 месяцев назад
John 'Sam' Newman. Sam was a brilliant ruckman. During his B&F years, he was averaging 20 disposals & 6 marks per game. Not dissimilar to today's best rucks who essentially play as an extra midfielder. Very agile and versatile, he was capable of playing a number of different positions. Hope you enjoy this video. Ablett 1000 Goals ][ Round 12, 1996.
Very ambidextrous; bounces the ball with his left hand but kicks with the right foot (although his left foot was more than handy, too)
sniff This is great sniff
plays pool like Darrell Kerrigan
I see Billy Conn 169 lbs or 76 kilo held his own against Joe Louis. How would Billy Conn hang with George Foreman or Mike Tyson. So Rocky knocks out Joe Louis when Joe wasnt in his prime, this huge weight disadvantage doesnt add up for Billy or Rocky against some big heavy weights. If you say Billy would use speed and movement I think that could only last for so long and I dont think Rocky had the fire power of the true modern day heavy weights
Thay all sit to pee these days

Loving this
The greatest player that ever lived in my opinion and I’m a Collingwood suppirter
He was strong, fast and agile and could kick a goal from anywhere and as an Essendon supporter I admired his talent. No one in modern football will ever come close to his football abilities ever.
Enter Garry Ablett Snr
A true great of the game. Good enough to have been a star with Collingwood.
The best player from essendon. Ever . Who's Collingwoods best player?
@huddome Good question. It's hard to nominate one player. I'll say that Gordon Coventry was Collingwood's best full forward of all time. A worthy second place to John Coleman in the pantheon of full forwards.
Oopsies.....Sorry Nev, but you'd been sniping Plough & Friar Tuck all day.... Not to mention whacko Jacko trying his darndest to knock half our side out earlier on....CONTEXT people. It Matters.
The bloke who started it all and got away with it was Ayres
mathews was always a dirty player
Chicken could actually play 😮 - some great highlights
I see a Wayne Carey highlights video, I click and I'm an Essendon supporter. Always enjoyed watching him play, not so much against the Bombers but he was one of the greatest.
Gary Ablett, greatest player ever. A one in a hundred year player.
I'd still give the 62 Packers as Lombardi's best. But I certainly won't quibble with actual players of Lombardi. 66 was a GREAT team.
Unreal how disrespected the Packers defense of the Lombardi Era is. They were the BEST defensive unit of the 60's. Never mentioned as one of the all-time great defenses EVER. Why? They have a majority of the starters in the HOF, yet aren't considered an all-time unit? Bull. Big city bias.
Packers won 3 in a row under Lambeau. Not under playoffs system, but 3 in a row under the rules of the game at the time.
.
I suspect you're talking shit.
Dean Laidley in the commercial @11:51
Looks like bruise free footy to me!...😮
In 1966 saw the Green Bay Packers defeat the Cleveland Browns 21 to 20 in Cleveland.
Bert Sugar was a f* i diot. He never liked Marciano, always had something negative to say about his fights. He was a Dempsey and Ali a ss licker. Funny how he has some serious doubts about the Marciano/Walcott II fight but he never had any about Clay´s ghost punch mafia controlled title fight against Sonny Liston.
The black and white photos after each mark are stunning. Imagine having each of those photos as a series hanging on your lounge room wall.
Legend
Ah when AFL could be played without having to replace the umpires whistles due to wear at 1/2 time. RIP AFL rugby is starting to look better each year.
A leopard never changes its spots as I had my lights put out by Mad Dog Muir when we were playing in the Masters Football League in Ballarat, this was a gutless act as I was not tackling at the time and just going for the ball. He could have been a grate footballer but his stupidity got in the way
What a team. Great
We will never see a dream team footy combination like this again, or footy players like Ablett/Plugger again…
Kicked 14.2 against Melbourne in 1990
The decades-long snub of JERRY KRAMER by the Pro Football HOF is almost certainly THE most horrendous snub of all time.
I am glad he got in before he died unlike so many. It's a shame so many of his teammates weren't around to see that. I can imagine Willie Davis being animated and proud for him.
Left and right no problem but was never interested in the lime light despite having amazing ability.
He was alright, no Gary Ablett or Tony Lockett. Hell I'd pick Fraser Gerich over Carey
An underrated Full Forward in an era of great Full Forwards. Multiple knee reconstruction cruelled the second half of his career, but it was great to see him finish with a Premiership.
It’s a shame what’s he done to himself of the field but just on pure football ability people really forget how good this bloke was
Champion
When I was growing up , there were two colors on the Green Bay Packers … Green and gold !! I enjoyed Bart Starr , Jim Taylor and Paul Hornung as much as I did Willie Davis , Herb Adderley and Willie Wood . They were ALL my childhood heroes ..
He was a bit of a freak and a goal-kicking machine in his early days.
"blighty showed me how to play"
If only people like Gary where not preoccupied and well compensated and adored for playing games like football, and professional sports ,
Yabbblettt
They were coached by a devout Catholic and until you understand that you wont know why they were so good. Not a word from Jim Taylor?
"I think it's time that government tried to get to the cause of things, rather than treat the symptoms".. All these years later nothing has changed!!
All of that money between them and nobody helped out Lionel??
Got to see one game in person that year, vs. Bears.
And he loves overdosing young girls on Heroin in hotel rooms an leaving them to die.
Didn't know god was a Packer fan
Imagine the racism he received
He gave as good as he got, sometimes the racism comes back the other way. Playing aginst Fitzroy Stars in the 90's we were told to not say anything racist and yet their crowd called us housing commission scumbags. I tackled their ruck Dixie Patton to the ground and he spat in my face right in front of the umpire after I was awarded a free kick, no penalty, no report as the umps were scared of them. The door swing both ways mate.
Lionel Aldridge's white wife asked coach if he cared about Lionel marrying her .Vince "The only thing I care about is how he plays football!"
